Join me in digging deep with a tarot spread designed to support us in exploring who we are our best, at our worst and how to work with both energies for healing, expansion and soulful self-awareness.
Tarot is such a brilliant tool for connecting with our inner intuitive landscape, vital if we're going to get to know and understand ourselves beyond the surface in order to live a joyful, compassion, creative life.
And who doesn't like the sound of that?!
The At My Best/At My Worst Tarot Spread was designed on a whim to help me investigate and bear witness to both the "yass this is awesome!" and "Ok, maybe this isn't so marvellous" traits, characteristics and energies I carry within - because in doing so I figured I could begin working with such energies in a supportive, encouraging and expansive way.
It's all too easy as we journey along our path to forget just how flippin' marvellous we are, playing down our strengths and unique blend of qualities due to fear of seeming conceited or arrogant - or simply because we just don't believe that we possess such magic.
On the flip side, it's also easy to fall into patterns of behaviour or cycles of thinking that fail to really serve us or aid us in being our best self and to push such patterns away rather than confront them head on - the key to making heartfelt changes and shifting our energy into a more compassionate space.
Admittedly it isn't always the comfiest thing in the world to toot our own horn or to face up to behaviour we might not be so proud of, but knowledge is power! And we have a choice when it comes to how we'd like to shape our life and experiences from here.
Accountability is where it's at!
Having settled into sacred space (whether that means lighting candles and burning incense or grabbing a vanilla latte in your local coffee shop!) and shuffled your deck, begin pulling cards for the following four positions.
You can always pull more than one card per spread position and of course feel free to use tarot and/or oracle cards - whatever resonates, sweet friend!
1) Who am I when I’m at my best?
The soul qualities, characteristics, traits, gifts you carry within that shine brightly and bring joy whenever tapped into and shared with the world. Self-love all the way, baby! Be brave, be bold and embrace your gorgeous heart. You are wonderfully unique, and the World wouldn’t be the same without your light, your essence - without YOU.
2) Who am I when I’m at my worst?
*Sound the cringe klaxon* I know, I know, we might think “can’t I just skip this part?!” But rest assured this isn’t a blame game and we’re not looking to sink into an unpleasant spiral of self-criticism.
Rather, see this question as an invitation to own up to – and bear loving witness to – the thought patterns, behaviours, tendencies that come to the forefront when you’re not operating at your best. We all have traits and patterns we’re not so super proud of, but when we identify these we can begin untangling their roots and transforming ickiness into helpful and compassionate insight.
3) How can I further embrace who I am when I’m at my best?
Take a moment to explore how might you begin consciously cultivating more of this energy and tapping into this part of yourself on a daily basis. How can you continue to bring such vibes to the forefront, and how might doing so enhance your life and the lives of those you come into contact with?
4) How can I further understand and integrate who I am when I’m at my worst in a healthy way?
When we dive into the “why” behind such energy we can begin transforming it into compassionate insight for change moving forward. What might this feel and look like for you? What lessons are being offered here with regards to yourself and the world around you?
Take some time to reflect on the cards you’ve pulled, perhaps revisiting your spread throughout the days ahead to glean further insights and realisations over time. Now that you’re aware of the energies currently residing within you have the power to shift things from here.

Eep!) and do let me know your thoughts once you’ve given the reading a go if you feel called to share.
With love, gratitude and so much joy,
