Welcome, sweet friends, to The Cosmic Quiz - the metaphysical version of the Cosmo quiz if you will, covering fun get-to-know-me questions as well as a whole heap of spiritual goodness.
(Did anyone else used to hide copies of Cosmo under their bed during their early teen years so as to avoid said magazine being confiscated by semi-strict parents?!)
I'm hoping to make The Cosmic Quiz a monthly series, so if there's anyone in the spiritual community you'd like to see featured, do let me know!
I figure there's no harm in reaching out, right? Louise Hay, I'm looking at you!
Without much further ado let's crack on, kicking things off with yours truly...
Hi Imogen (hi me!) Got any nicknames you'd care to share?
Imy, Ims, Imsworth (thanks mum), Mims, Peabob (it's a long story!)
Describe yourself in three words
Curious, friendly, passionate.
I'm currently consuming diced mango by the bucket-load - so yummy! That, and copious amounts of Marmite on toast with tea.
Best. Snack. Ever.
Fave music + movies?
I'll always be a total Michelle Branch fan - she's the reason I took guitar lessons many moons ago!
Her latest album, Hopeless Romantic, is my go-to daily soundtrack at the moment.
I also love a bit of Dolly Parton, Carol King and the Dixie Chicks. Country vibes!
As for movies, give me an 80s teen flick and I'm a happy camper. The Breakfast Club and Footloose are two of my all-time faves (Kevin Bacon throwing himself around the dancefloor = the best).
Speaking of musicals, I'm obsessed with Grease - I watched it every evening for months on end when I was little until the VHS wore out and had to be replaced - and I can't resist a High School Musical marathon every now and again.
*We're aaallll in thiissss togethhheerrrrr*
Reading anything juicy at the moment?
As something of a self-confessed book geek, I always have a stack of reads on the go!
I'm currently working my way through Miguel Mendonca and Barbara Lamb's Meet The Hybrids (blowing my mind), Dolores Canon's Keepers of the Garden (more ET vibes), Tanishka's Goddess Wisdom (SO powerful) and Danielle Leporte's White Hot Truth (dropping some serious spiritual truths page after page).
Favourite YouTube subscriptions?
I LOVE YouTube!
Some of my fave channels include Elyse from Wild Moon Woman (her deck reviews are always droolworthy and her intuitive insights are so beautiful!), Samantha Menzo (whose daily vlogs are a fully-fledged part of my bedtime routine), Gigi Young (for all things ET and intuitive development), Sasha from Sashastology (my go-to astrology buddy!) and Vix from New Age Hipster (for all things tarot - her monthly collective readings are the bomb!)
Best advice you've ever received?
Enjoy the scenic route should you take a diversion or two along the way - it's all part of the rich tapestry of life.
Courtesy of my mama, wise woman and excellent life advice giver!
What does a typical day-in-the-life look like for you?
During the week I wake at around 6.30 before hopping in the shower and then heading over to the Nespresso machine - nothing beats the scent of coffee in the morning!
I usually spend some time pulling a couple of cards for myself, reading a chapter or two of a juicy book and checking my agenda for the day.
Mornings tend to be my writing time - drafting and editing blog posts, website content and poetry - while afternoons are spent sharing sacred space with gorgeous souls in video Soul Session readings.
I also squeeze in filming every other day or so to keep my YouTube channel going with fresh tarot content. At the moment I'm working on a series called Tarot Card by Card (pretty self-explanatory!) and I've got a ton of exciting ideas for future vids.
Garden time is absolutely essential if the weather is nice ("nice" to me includes grey and drizzly - I love rain!) After lunch or in the early evening I'll head outside with a cuppa and take a moment to ground and centre my energy.
Family dinners are my kinda thing, so evenings are spent hanging out with Chris and whoever else happens to be home (we're total millennials, staying with family while saving for our own place).
After dinner we'll watch a bit of Netflix and I'll flick through whatever books are currently on my nightstand, before heading to bed at around midnight.
I'm currently on the lookout for volunteering opportunities and possibly an additional part-time gig to connect with like minded peeps in person. Watch this space!
So, how did you get going on your spiritual path?
Back in 2012 I ran smack bang into the middle of a mighty tarot Tower moment, the path I thought I *should* be on crumbling at my feet as a cocktail of anxiety and a "wtf am I doing with my life" realisation ripped through my career and left my mental health in tatters.
It sounds awful, but such an illusion shattering string of events was exactly what I needed in order to begin figuring out how I *actually* wanted my path to look and feel like moving forwards.
While on sick leave from my office job as a Careers Information Officer at a London university (ha, I know - surrounded by careers related info and totally oblivious as to my own path!) I decided to take a tarot course - and the rest, as they say, is history.
From the very first shuffle I knew I'd found something special.
Months of intense tarot study followed, alongside diving into topics such as spirit guides, mediumship, meditation, spellwork and various forms of divination.
Developing a daily spiritual practice has made such a huge difference to my quality of life - it's been quite literally life changing.
While connecting to Spirit and my Soul Voice hasn't ridden me of moments of anxiety completely, it absolutely has given me various tools to begin managing my thoughts and feelings in healthy, expansive ways.
I no longer feel consumed by panic attacks or episodes of depression, and I'm much more aware and in tune with my inner cycles of ebb and flow.
On January 1st 2016 I finally felt ready to launch my card slinging biz - and here I am now!
You can read more about my awakening story here if you fancy finding out more.
What does your current spiritual practice look like?
Tea. Morning cards. Reading and writing poetry. Garden meditation, eyes closed, barefoot, hands to heart.
Studying my craft. Connecting with fellow soul seekers and sharing our stories, experiences and discoveries.
Self-soothing. Kindness, to myself and others. Questioning. Deep conversations with dear soul sisters.
Birdsong. Rainfall. Daily reflection.
Service. Community - finding ways to give back (something I'm currently in the process of figuring out!)
Remaining open to change, to learning, to growth. Student mode as much as teacher mode.
Diving deeper, why are we here?
Ultimately, I reckon we're here to remember our divine origin and our shared being.
To find our way back to oneness of soul through experiencing separateness of body.
I believe we're all expressions of the same divine energy, source energy, and our life walk here on Mama Earth gifts us with an extraordinary opportunity to remember our history and our heart.
To experience what it is to be creative beings, able to manifest miracles and bring to life our vision.
How freaking cool is that?!
To experience our physical incarnation in its entirely - the full spectrum of human emotion.
I suspect that when we return to Spirit we might just miss certain things about life here on Earth; the passionate kiss, the luxurious morning stretch, the first sip of coffee as the sun rises at our window.
And to work together to bring about much needed social change; to level the playing field so that all can enjoy the magic of manifesting without limitation or persecution.
To share, to support, to lift each other up as we journey.
What's your fave way to connect with your Soul Voice/Spirit/Guides/Angels etc?
Card slinging, of course! To me, tarot isn't an intuitive prop or crutch but a beautiful system in and of itself.
The archetypal energies contained within a deck tell us stories of what it is to be human, to be here and to have been here in years passed.
We find ourselves and our loved ones amongst the scenes depicted and in doing so we create space for reflection, for questioning, for joining the dots and reaching a deepened understanding.
There's nothing quite like a well loved deck and a meaty reading, IMHO!
I also really enjoy meditation and writing poetry - both of these outlets allow me to connect to my heart and to begin making sense of whatever it is that's on my mind and soul at this moment in time.
What are you currently exploring, spirituality-wise?
I'm going through something of an ET phase at the moment. I'm still figuring out what resonates and what I believe, and I'm finding the journey into all things alien fascinating so far!
Working with earthbound spirits is also something I feel very drawn towards.
I've had numerous dreams and visions over the past year or so centering around 'death doula' work - supporting those recently passed with moving into the light, particularly those who've endured a traumatic and/or sudden death.
Again, I'm not too sure where this journey is going to take me but I'm open to finding out!
Final words of wisdom for The Cosmic Quiz readers?
If I could convey one message about intuitive ability and spiritual practice, it would be that nothing trumps your direct connection to Spirit.
You have a direct hotline to Spirit and it resides within your heart, not in the hands of another.
Sure, other people can guide us along our path during tricky or confusing times, but we're very much in the driving seat of our lives - which is how it should be!
I'm really working on bringing my questions to Spirit before looking externally for answers and illumination, in order to get a soul-deep sense of what does and doesn't resonate with me at this point along my path.
However you feel called to connect, whether through card slinging, meditation, dance, writing, channelling - go for it!
Gift yourself permission to chart your own course and embrace the journey wholeheartedly.
Where can we find you?
Well... here! I run this very website and upload tarot and intuitive development/spiritual practice blog content weekly.
